WOVENS
Street Style
Junior Year
Street Style is a woven fabric collection designed for fashion and apparel purposes. The collection features six fabrics that can each stand on their own or work cohesively together. Each fabric features a variety of patterns created by drawing in Weave Point and hand weaving using a AVL Compu-Dobby Loom. An assortment of weaving techniques were explored such as plain weave, twill, satin, sateen, double cloth, and ghiorde knots. The color palette incorporates red, orange, neon yellow, purple, pink, white, and black. The warp was made from solid white yarn while different types of yarns and hand dyed sliver were inserted in the weft. This collection was designed for edgy women with a original and eccentric style.
Valdese Weavers Design Internship
Summer 2017, Christmas Break 2017, Summer 2018
Valdese Weavers provided an inside look into all aspects of designing and manufacturing jacquard woven fabrics. From this experience, I designed three fabrics using EAT software. The first was a simple stripe drawn by hand and by altering the widths of each section. This pattern shows off boucle, micropoly chenille, and some cotton poly blend yarns. The second pattern features a repeated arrangement of hexagons. Within each hexagon, the weave structures change producing a gradient effect. This pattern contains all 6/2 poly slub yarns. In order to to test various color palettes and warps, I completed color work on both of these patterns. The third fabric boasts a patchwork display of rectangles each containing a unique scribble pattern inside. Overall, each fabric is very different and helped to build a more solid foundation using EAT technology.

Woven Wall Hangings
In my free time, I enjoy hand weaving one of a kind, delicately crafted pieces. I experiment with a variety of yarn types, colors, and techniques to create texture and add interest to each wall hanging.
