PRINTS
Kokomo
Sophomore Year
Kokomo is a resort wear collection created to take along with you on any tropical getaway. Inspired by the locations and nature of vacation destinations, each look is created to make a statement. Every piece was designed from start to finish, from motif development to sewing the end garment.
The process started by drawing hand and digital motifs then using computer aided design to create repeats and assign a color palette. Each print was designed by hand and chosen for each individual piece. The prints were digitally printed on momme silk and charmeuse satin to enhance the designs by giving them rich, lustrous colors. The other fabric used to accent the prints is white suede, which was laser etched with palm tree motifs. The color palette features energetic and spirited colors true to the nature of our consumer. The perfect girl to rock these looks is someone who is bold, carefree, and wants to keep summer alive.
Gridded Jungle
Sophomore Year
Gridded Jungle is a kaftan beach cover up digitally printed on momme silk. The foliage motifs were hand drawn and then taken into Adobe Photoshop to color and then Lectra Kaledo Print to turn into repeatable prints. The flamingo motif was digitally drawn using Adobe Illustrator. The motifs were then arranged into gridded sections with the flamingo as the central focus of the garment. This piece can be worn over a bathing suit or paired with shorts and sandals.
Introspective
Sophomore Year
Group Project with Lemmy Truppi, Madeline Mikolajewski, Ka Wai Hui
Introspective is a group home interior design project inspired by the Fashion Snoop’s Spring 2018 trend Aura. Aura “brings an ethereal element to design, honing in on spirituality (Fashion Snoops).” It focuses on creating a one of a kind atmosphere by using hand-crafted artisan pieces to make statements in a room. It also uses color as a focal point by using it to affect your mood. The colors softly merge or gradient to set the tone. Our target customer is a girl who is an emerging adult around the age of twenty-two to thirty-four. She works as an editor or fashion blogger and has an income of $5,000-$8,000 a month. Her style is upscale bohemian chic and she seeks out one of a kind pieces from local artisan shops. Our collection features a footstool, set of curtains and pillows for a couch. We pictured this collection in the living room of a loft apartment with a scenic view. The pillows are a mixture of shibori dyeing, digital printing, pleating, burn-out and applique. The shibori was created by folding fabrics into shapes such as a triangle and dip dyeing them.
The face motif was digitally printed and then appliqued on top. The curtains have an under layer of the screen printed medallion motif and an over layer of sheer dip dyed fabric. The footstool features a digitally printed swirl pattern. A wall hanging was also created to add a textual element to the atmosphere.
